Septic installer, Orillia
New systems and full replacements from Orillia north to Washago and east to Brechin. Send the form and an owner calls you back today.
Septic installation in Orillia, Severn, Ramara and Washago means designing for two kinds of ground: Shield granite with thin soil north of the city, and deeper soils to the south. We install new systems and replace failed beds, and inside the City's Septic Maintenance Program area we design around the five-year inspection that follows. We file the permit with the right building department and book the inspections.
Building a house, cottage or shop? You get a complete system sized for the bedrooms and fixtures you are actually putting in, designed to pass the inspection the first time.
Old bed failing? Sewage surfacing, slow drains, a health unit order, or a system that predates the property? You get the old tank out and a new system to current Ontario Building Code, with the inspection coordinated for you.
We install conventional drain fields (weeping beds, leaching beds, tile beds), raised and filter beds where bedrock or the water table is close, and tertiary treatment units such as Waterloo Biofilter and Ecoflo where the lot or the shoreline calls for one.
We install and replace. We do not do pump-outs or minor repairs. If you only need a tank pumped or a baffle fixed, we will point you to someone who does that. If your system has failed or you are building new, we are the right call.
Inside Orillia the Part 8 permit goes through the City of Orillia building department. Severn, Ramara and Oro-Medonte each issue their own through their building departments. We file with the right office and book every inspection.
Orillia sits where the ground changes. North of the city, around Severn and Washago, the Canadian Shield starts and soil over granite gets thin, which usually means a raised or filter bed built up with imported fill. East toward Ramara and the lakeshore the land flattens and the water table sits high, which changes the bed depth. The test pit at the site visit settles which one you need.
The City of Orillia runs a Septic Maintenance Program: properties inside the program area are inspected once every five years, at $165.18 per inspection, to protect drinking-water sources. Properties within 100 metres of Lake Simcoe or Lake Couchiching watershed watercourses are on the provincial five-year cycle as well. A new system here is built to pass those inspections, not just the first one.
“As a custom home builder, we love contracting Thor Construction Company for all of our demolition, excavation and septic work. They are easy to work with, have great equipment and know what they are doing. Our clients are always very happy with them.”
“Hired Thor for complete site services including bringing utilities into my new build and digging for foundation. Once the build was complete they came back and finish landscaped the property and we couldn't be happier. Strongly recommend!”
“Thor Construction Company came in and trenched all new water lines for us when our well line burst. They installed new yard hydrants for us as well. We are so grateful they came in and fixed our water line problem promptly and professionally.”
The City of Orillia building department inside the city, and the Severn, Ramara or Oro-Medonte building departments in the townships. We handle the application.
The Shield. Where bedrock is close to the surface the code requires a set depth of unsaturated soil under the bed, and the only way to get it is to build the bed up with certified fill.
Yes. We arrange the design and file the Part 8 sewage system permit with whichever office covers your property, a municipal building department or the health unit, and we book every inspection.
A conventional system for a typical home in Central Ontario runs about $15,000 to $30,000. Raised beds, tertiary units and difficult access push it higher. You get a written price after the site visit.
Three to five days on site for most systems. Add the permit lead time in front of that, which we manage and keep you posted on.
Sewage surfacing or a wet, spongy patch over the bed, slow drains through the whole house, gurgling, sewage smell outside, or an unusually green strip of lawn over the bed. If you see any of these, call. If it needs replacing we will tell you straight, and if it only needs a repair we will send you to someone who does repairs.
Yes. Where bedrock, a high water table or a small lot rules out a conventional bed, we install raised and filter beds and tertiary treatment units such as Waterloo Biofilter and Ecoflo.
Often, depending on frost depth and access. Frozen ground costs a bit more. If your system has failed and cannot wait for spring, call and we will tell you whether your site works in winter.
Every page has the local permit office, the ground and the rules for that area.
